Crash Course on the Creepy: Vampires, Witches, and the Undead

It’s the season of spooky spirits, ghastly ghouls and things that go bump in the night. A panel of Edinboro University faculty members will present a “Crash Course on the Creepy” tonight in Compton Hall, Room 107A.

Spookily titled “Crash Course on the Creepy: Vampires, Witches, and the Undead,” the 6 p.m. presentation will feature Dr. Jerra Jenrette, Dr. Rhonda Matthews and Professor Amanda Frantz-Mamani from EU’s History, Politics, Languages and Cultures Department and Dr. Lenore Barbian from the Department of Criminal Justice, Anthropology, and Forensic Studies, who also serves as a fellow in the Institute for Forensic Sciences.

Panelists will address the following eerie topics:

Professor Frantz-Mamani: “Catrinas, Tantawawas, and Sugar Skulls: Cultures Beyond Borders”

Dr. Jenrette: “The Devil in the Shape of a Woman”

Dr. Barbian: “The Truth About Vampires: Deviant Burial in the Archaeological Record”

Dr. Matthews: “The Witches You Couldn’t Burn: Intersection of Witches in Popular Culture”

Sponsored by the academic departments, the panel is free and open to the public.
