Private Showing of 'Black Panther'
Start Date: 2/15/2018Start Time: 6:00 PM

Event Description:
Edinboro University students and employees are invited to a free special premiere viewing of the upcoming Marvel film “Black Panther” (PG-13) and a presentation about the history and politics behind the title character.

The viewing is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at Cinemark Tinseltown, 1910 Rotunda Drive in Erie. Edinboro will provide transportation for students from campus, courtesy of the University Programming Board.

The viewing is limited to the first 240 students who register beginning today at the SGA C-Store, located on the second floor of Pogue Student Center. Students must show their official Edinboro ID at the time of registration. One ticket is available per student. Employees (max. 74) must register for tickets through Boro Sync, under the Center for Diversity and Inclusion.

Dr. Rhonda Matthews, an associate professor in Edinboro’s HPLC, will host a brief introduction to the cultural aspects of the film before the viewing and a Q&A following the film, which is approximately two and a half hours.

“Black Panther” follows T'Challa who, after the events of “Captain America: Civil War,” returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T'Challa's mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.

Guests are invited to share their experiences on social media with #BlackPantherSoLit and #BlackPantherBoro.
