All Day Men's Track and Field at 49er Classic

The Mathematics and Computer Science Department will be holding the 11th Annual Pi Day celebration on March 14, 2019. We expect about 400 local high school students to visit the department for a day full of activities in math, computer science, and data analytics that relate to the number Pi (approximated by 3.14). Activities will be in Ross in the morning, Van Houten at noon, and Pogue MPR from 12:30-2pm and 7-8pm.

Richard Kegler - Book and Type Designer Thursday, March 21, 3-5:30 Doucette 124 during Type 2, All G&ID students are welcome. • An illustrated history of P22 type foundry • Hands-on discussion of working through book design with mockups • P22 Blox modular typographic printing system P22 Blox is a set of modular letterpress printing blocks made from space age material—plastic! It allows for a wide variety of lettering, experimental letterforms and pattern making. Based on Bauhaus principles of basic shapes, these simple forms can be assembled to make any letters of the alphabet. 5:30-6:45 Dinner (the Keg) 7:00-8:30 Doucette 119 (the General Public is welcome) • Making Faces: Metal Type in the 21st century--documentary screening with Q&A afterwards Friday, March 22, 10 am - 2 pm, Doucette 118 • Hardcover multi-signature codex bookbinding hands-on workshop Materials will be supplied [20 active G&ID club members will be provided kits] others are certainly welcome to watch. Rich will demo the bookbinding 10-11am. Please poll your students and ask if they wish to attend this hands-on workshop on Friday from 10-2.

Brian Lasher, a retired career Naval Officer who conducted strategic planning and joint operations in the Middle East and Africa.
Baher Ghosheh, Ph.D., who has been a professor of cultural and economic geography and Middle Eastern studies at Edinboro University since 1989.
Victoria Rickard, J.D., Ph.D., a faculty member at Mercyhurst University whose primary teaching and research interests lie in the areas of American politics, Congress, law, international relations, public policy and gender.
Gerry Gendlin, Ph.D., a faculty member at Edinboro who has taught 13 different courses, including American Foreign Policy, National Security, Politics of Russia and American Politics
