Al Stone Lecture Series
Spring 2019 Al Stone Lecture Series Schedule:
• April 11: “Renewable Energy: A Sustainable Path Forward” – Presenter: Dr. Richard Lloyd, chairperson of the Physics and Technology Department, is also the designer of the 190 kilowatt solar array on campus.
• April 18: “The Future of the Erie County Democratic Party: Demographic Trends” – Presenter: Dr. Jim Wertz, associate dean of Edinboro University’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and chairperson of the Erie County Democratic Party.
• April 25: “Teaching and Living in Bhutan” – Presenter: Dr. Andrea Wyman serves as librarian in Edinboro University’s Baron-Forness Library and has recently taught in south Asia.
• May 2: “Making the Most of It: Nature and Meaning in Frost” – Presenter: Dr. Donald Sheehy is one of the premier scholars of the poet Robert Frost. His current project, “The Letters of Robert Frost,” is being widely published in five volumes
• May 9: “’She Died in My Arms Tonight’ What the President, the Pope and the Ayatollah Have to Do With A Little Girl in Haiti” – Presenter: Rev. Chuck Cammarata was pastor at Fairview Presbyterian Church for 32 years and is still a sought-after speaker. He is active in various international programs and multi-cultural and interfaith organizations in Erie.

Edinboro University is excited to bring back the annual Education Job Fair this spring! The event will feature up to 50 schools, and registration is free for all students and alumni. Our Fair, open to students from Edinboro and all regional institutions, will be open from 10:00 am until noon. Employers are invited to stay for an optional interview session from 1:00-3:00 pm.

"Pennsylvania Veterans Courts & Magisterial Veteran Diversion Programs" - presented by Bradley Schaffer In his presentation, Professor Schaffer will • Inform the academic and student community about Veteran Treatment Court’s treatment and problems. • Educate the academic and student community about strategies that result in the most desirable outcomes and associated challenges. • Problem-solve a number of important yet intractable concerns and obstacles (e.g. relapse and recidivism) surrounding the treatment of veterans utilizing a court team focus.

Uncomfortable Conversations – The Green New Deal

What: In February, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey unveiled a 14-page resolution that included ideas aimed to address climate change, including public works projects, high-quality health care, access to clean water and air and affordable food. Edinboro University faculty experts will address the economic and political implications of this proposal during an open forum on Edinboro’s main campus.
