Getting There from Here: One Humble Person's Opinion

Chris Oyesiku grew up in Nigeria as one of nine children, yet, somehow, he found himself at Edinboro University studying computer science. Flash forward a few years and he’s now the Team Leader for Software Development at Logistic Plus, Inc. in Erie, PA. On April 20, Oyesiku will be back at Edinboro University to discuss setting personal and professional goals while navigating the hardships of life. 

Oyesiku will lecture in Ross Hall in room 136. The lecture is free and open to student and faculty.

FREE CONCERT IN ERIE: EUP Chamber Players - Shakespeare's Loves and Laughs
The Edinboro University Chamber Players will present a concert, Shakespeare's Loves and Laughs, on Monday, April 23rd at 7 pm at the Blasco Memorial Library on Erie's Bayfront. The concert will feature guest artist, Amber Shay Nicholson, piano, with EUP faculty member, Elisa Ramon, soprano, as “Great Books with Great Music” celebrates its 20th year of concerts. This concert is co-sponsored by the Edinboro University Music and Theatre Department, the Erie County Public Library, and the Friends of the Erie County Public Library.

Opioids: A Public Health Crisis Out of Control?
Edinboro University will host a panel discussion on the raging public health crisis associated with opioid use. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 24, at 7 p.m. in Compton 107A.  Edinboro faculty and other experts will provide their individual perspectives on this issue, and then open the floor to questions and comments from the audience.

Al Stone Lecture Series: Dr. Lenore Barbian
Dr. Lenore Barbian, a forensic anthropologist in Edinboro’s Department of Criminal Justice, Anthropology, and Forensic Studies, kicks off the thought-provoking lecture series on April 26 at 9:30 a.m. with “Tales from the Crypt: Case Studies in Physical Anthropology.” Prior to joining the Edinboro faculty, Dr. Barbian served as curator of the Anatomical Collections at the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Washington, D.C.

The lecture environment is friendly, encourages dialogue and is free and open to the public. Parking is available for lecture attendees in the Reeder Hall parking lot behind the Diebold Center from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Additional parking will be available on surrounding streets.

AJO Benefit Cornhole Tournament
As a part of BoroFest 2018, we will be holding a Cornhole Tournament to benefit the AJO Forever Foundation and their fight against Epilepsy! $15 for a team of two pre-registration, $20 for a team of two same day registration. The tournament will begin at 5:30 that evening, with same day registration opening at 5:00. Prizes awarded to the top 3 teams, including each person of the winning team receiving cornhole boards and bags. Boro Fest- Halfway to Homecoming
Edinboro University and the community of Edinboro have joined forces to create Boro Fest, a fun-filled evening of celebration. From food trucks to art displays, Boro Fest will feature some of the things that make Edinboro so special. Attendants can also look forward to music provided by both the General McLane and EU Jazz bands, along with games, beverages and art/merchandise exhibitions. 

Boro Fest will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m in the streets and lots near John Wildwoods. Those who wish to stop by can roam the area and visit the local vendors.

(EU's jazz band and Choir concert will stray from the location as it will take place in Cole Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.)
