Start Day
Kilted Mile (Multi-Day Event)
The Kilted Mile is an Edinboro University tradition that originated as part of the first Highland Games and Scottish Festival in 1993. The Kilted Mile – in all its tartan glory – keeps our traditions alive at Homecoming 2020. From weekend warriors to casual runners to families and kids of all ages, everyone is welcome to participate.

This year's race will take place ANYWHERE between Wednesday, Sept. 30, and Sunday, Oct. 4. Participants will track their own times. Race results must be sent in by Monday, Oct. 5, at noon. The traditional Kilted Mile course (Darrow road to Meadville Street ending at the crosswalk between Flip and the Hotel) will be set up Wednesday through Sunday, but racers can participate at any location. After racers have registered, they will receive an email with more information about submitting their race times.

Unicorn Day at Edinboro University
To celebrate the Scottish national Unicorn Day on April 9 and Edinboro’s own Scottish heritage, the University is hosting an afternoon filled with unicorn-themed activities and events for Edinboro students.

From 2-4 p.m., “unicorns” will meander around the campus loop – the main passageway through the inner circle of campus – as horses from the University’s equestrian team masquerade as unicorns to greet visitors to the Scottish celebration.

Fans of the Netflix series “Nailed It” can check out Edinboro’s competition in Van Houten Dining Hall at 5 p.m. On the show, inexperienced bakers and cake decorators attempt to recreate cakes and cupcakes that were designed by professionals – often with slipshod and hilarious results. Edinboro students will take their turn, replicating unicorn-themed desserts.

The official Unicorn Carnival kicks off at 6 p.m. in the Frank G. Pogue Student Center with bumper cars, bouncy houses, balloon animals, henna tattoos, face paint, carnival games and prizes. Edinboro’s Student Government Organization will also be hosting a stuff-a-unicorn promotion at their booth.
