Reception Honoring Dr. William P. Alexander
The Edinboro University community was saddened by the loss of Dr. William P. Alexander, former faculty member, professor emeritus, and passionate supporter of Edinboro, who passed away on Wednesday, April 25.

Please join us for a reception honoring his legacy on Friday, June 29, from 3:30-5 p.m. in the William P. Alexander Music Center.

Dr. Alexander arrived at Edinboro in the early 1960s as a professor of music history and composition. An innovative administrator, he served as Music Department chair and president of the Faculty Association.

He is credited with forming Edinboro’s first marching band, which started with just 17 members in 1962. Following his retirement, he remained involved, composing new works for orchestra and small ensembles.

In 2008, Edinboro University dedicated its state-of-the art music facility to the former professor, naming it the Dr. William P. Alexander Music Center. Dr. Alexander and his wife, Mary, created a permanent endowment for a music series so that Edinboro students and the community may continue to enjoy one of Bill’s greatest passions now and for generations to come.
