President Foster F. Diebold Memorial
Friday, July 20, 2018 | 5:00 – 7:00 pm
The Diebold Center for the Performing Arts

Please join us for a memorial reception to honor former Edinboro University President Foster F. Diebold, who passed away on April 1.

Selected as the 13th president of Edinboro State College in 1979, President Diebold was at the helm when Edinboro University became part of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education in 1983. Under his leadership, he was credited with boosting the school's enrollment to record levels. Buildings and grounds were upgraded on campus, academic links with institutions in China and Pakistan were formed, and the University established its strong commitment to serving students with disabilities.

The former president additionally oversaw the school's transition in athletics from NAIA to NCAA Division II status, and he was credited with helping the wrestling program elevate to Division I. During Diebold's tenure, Edinboro athletic teams won four national championships and 33 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference titles.

Following his retirement from Edinboro, he was awarded the title of President Emeritus. Of the many honors received by Diebold over his career at Edinboro, he especially valued his appointment to the Edinboro Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006 and the renaming of the former Student Union building on campus to The Diebold Center for the Performing Arts.
