Social Equity Distinguished Lecturer Presentation
Dr. Kristin Webber will present, "Using Literature to Build A Sense of Community and Inclusiveness" Presentation Overview: The classroom environment goes a long way in building and cultivating inclusive relationships among young students. Quality literature is one way to build these relationships. Through this presentation, I will share how my journey with The Freedom Writers Diary united a group of reluctant learners in an urban, middle-school and created opportunities that transformed classroom learning and my philosophy on teaching.

Social Equity Distinguished Lecture Series - Dr. Kristin Webber
The Office of Social Equity is hosting its 2nd annual Distinguished Lecture Series. This year's theme is "Inclusive Excellence." The series is designed to broaden the educational experience of Edinboro University students and the community by providing an opportunity for our faculty to share thought provoking and engaging ideas, research and theories related to inclusive excellence.
 
Dr. Kristin Webber joined the faculty at Edinboro University in 2012 after serving 18 years as a K-12 classroom teacher.  She is an associate professor in the Early Childhood and Reading Department where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses.

Edinboro University Players "Night of One Acts"!
The University Players Presents "Night of One Acts". Six One Act shows that will guarantee a night of intrigue, laughter, mystery and entertainment. As a way of giving people a chance to see all the one acts, we have divided up the nights of when shows will be performed. You will receive a ticket that will allow you to see both Day A and Day B once you pay. You need to present the ticket to the person running box office to be granted entrance. If you do not have the ticket for the second day, you must pay to get in. Show A will include The Basement. Directed by Eric Reiche & Abigail Delk featuring Michael Barnett, Dewey Hudacky & Taylor Birk Believe. Potterfest: A Day at the Castle 2017
Experience the magic of the Harry Potter series at "A Day at the Castle." Get sorted into your house, pass your classes and compete to win the house cup. Browse wizard wares in our common room and enjoy the chance to win a custom wand!

Two sessions will be offered. Each session is approximately two hours in length.

Morning: 10 a.m. until noon (registration begins at 10 a.m.)

Afternoon: 1:30-3:30 p.m. (registration begins at 1 p.m.)

Admission is free but seats are filled on a first come first serve basis. Participants are encouraged to arrive at the start of registration times. Children must be accompanied by an adult. School robes are not required but certainly encouraged!

This event is designed for the young but also fun for the young at heart! Been to the castle before? We have all new lessons and have even made some course changes!

Dr. Joseph Laythe Potterbowl Trivia Contest on Monday, Sept. 25, beginning with registration at 7 p.m. in the Pogue Student Center Multipurpose Room. Teams of contestants will be asked questions from the Harry Potter books and other sources. Participation fee: $5. The contest was dedicated to Laythe, an EU professor who was instrumental in organizing the trivia contest prior to his death in 2016.

The Potterfest crew invites the public to a downtown march on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 5 p.m. Participants are asked to dress in costumes from the Harry Potter films and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and meet at 5 p.m. at Centennial Hall. Cosplay wizards and beasts will then march downtown to share the spirit of Harry Potter with the Edinboro community.
