JES Satellite Campus Lecture: Dr. Rodney Clark

An Erie-based nonprofit institution that promotes civic enlightenment and drives community progress for the region will host a series of three satellite lectures on campus at PennWest Edinboro.

The “Satellite Campus Lectures,” hosted by Jefferson Educational Society, will feature three prominent local speakers – including a retired Edinboro professor – throughout the fall.

Community agriculture activist Raven Clark, retired Edinboro geography professor Dr. Baher Ghosheh and psychology and neuroscience professor Dr. Rodney Clark will present their topics at the Dr. William P. Alexander Music Center – Recital Hall, 110 Kiltie Road, on Edinboro’s campus. Admission and parking for the lectures are free for all attendees.

Satellite programming wraps up at Edinboro with Dr. Rodney Clark, professor of psychology and neuroscience at Allegheny College, who will present “Drugs in Society: A Brief History of Drug Use and Abuse in America” at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

This program will highlight drug use in the U.S. from the colonial period to the present. Clark will cover culturally sanctioned and illegal drug use, ending with speculations about the future.

Clark teaches a variety of classes on behavioral and drug psychology. His research in behavioral pharmacology focuses on three primary areas – drug interactions and motivative variables; the behavioral pharmacology of the antimalarial drug Mefloquine; and the respondent condition of endogenous opioid systems in immune function.
